Cosmoledo Atoll is the GT capital of the world - and it earns that title through sheer numbers. While the atoll does produce fish over the metre mark, Cosmoledo is truly defined by its prolific populations of 60–70cm GT following large stingrays and sharks across pearly white sand. Pure sight fishing at its finest. Twenty-one tiny islands sit on the outer edges of this ancient coral structure, with miles of open sand and grass flats stretching between the surf zone and a complex lagoon system fed by two major tidal channels. Beyond the GT fishing, Cosmoledo carries well above average bonefish, solid Indo-Pacific permit, and reliable triggerfish - plus one of the most diverse seabird breeding sites in the Seychelles. The lodge experience is unlike anything else in the outer islands - eight converted shipping containers serving as luxury guest rooms, tucked into dense island shrubbery surrounding the central dining area and bar. Remote, intimate, and completely one of a kind.
guide's verdict
"Cosmoledo is the destination I'd send any angler chasing their first GT on a fly rod. The numbers here are extraordinary — fish following rays across white sand in crystal clear water. But what stays with you is the place itself. Twenty-one tiny islands, one of the most remarkable bird colonies in the Seychelles, and a lodge built from shipping containers hidden in the bush. There is genuinely nowhere else like it."
